Our Epic Story
Every success story starts with a blueprint, a few developers and a dream. This is how we have grown from a start-up - a small department within Hollywoodbets Group - to the powerhouse, stand-alone, software development house we are today.
We developed SyX to ensure bullet-proof code and absolute security to endure the high transaction nature of the Hollywood business, SyX is a cutting-edge betting software system for South Africa's leading bookmaker built from the ground up, along with a range of other solutions. And when we outgrew our commercial parent, we left the nest.
It's safe to say we are now rivalling the very best around the world.
Our Journey
We began as a small software development start-up at Hollywoodbets in Durban, driven by passion and a bold vision to take on the world.
We launched SyX Software at River Square, Vereeniging in Johannesburg, where the first bet was placed on ‘Amber Ace’ at Flamingo Park on 15 November.
The retail roll-out started in March 2014. We have never looked back!
As the Hollywoodbets dev team grew, 25 team members moved to Betting Entertainment Technologies.
They relocated to a new building in Umhlanga in June & by September, they had transitioned online and retail customers to SyX.
We rebranded as BET Software, grew our team to 277 All-Stars—five times its size—and kept expanding.
BET Software was shortlisted for the SBWA Sports Betting Provider Award 2022, celebrating innovation and success. Our Joburg office also opened that year.
We launched our Cape Town office in July. The new building in Century City solidifies BET’s presence in the Mother City.
This year, BET Software grew by 258 new hires and 77 promotions. We expanded our Cape Town team’s responsibilities, moved into a larger JHB office, and impacted the lives of numerous kids through CSI donations.
